 Post subject: weeping red oak

My healthy appearing 8 yr old tree is weeping and every type insect from bees, wasps, butterflies and green flies are on its trunk from top to bottom for the last week. Someone suggested borers but I don't see any holes unless they are very small. Is this something I need to worry about and treat?

It sounds like your red oak is doing what my younger one is doing. I've been applying tree goop to it about once a week and it seems to be healing slowly. You can buy ready to mix goop from most places that sell Green Sense products such as Rhodes in Garland.
