Today, when the sun came out, and was all shiny and pretty, I went to the front yard to do some weeding. To my horror, all my Oenthera were literally covered with a zillion shiny little black flying bugs eating holes in the flowers and the leaves! They did not seem to be damaging anything other than the top flowers and the leaves of the "primroses"..I sprayed them with a shot of water and cut off the chewed up flowers.
When I first saw these bugs, my first intent was to poison the little suckers, but I got to hearing the Voice of the Dirt Doctor inside my head..so I just cut off the dead and tattered parts of the flowers..and sprayed them with a shot of water again.
Does anyone have an idea of what these little suckers may be? Each bug is about 3-5 millimeters, shiny black surface, and they swarmed multiply on the blossoms...
