Hey guys-
I've a friend whose cat has had a bad reaction to using one of those Hartz flea collars with the lovely toxins in it.
He said he noticed last night under her throat was raw and smelled bad. He took the collar off and put neo sporin on it..then he was reading a website called http://www.hartzvictims.org/ and read these stories where cats have gotten lethargic and then died even after the collar was off them.

He's going to take her to the vet tonite when he gets off.

My own cats don't have fleas, nor does our organically maintained yard. If you have an issue with them, what's the natural way for ridding the pets of them, as well as any suggestions for helping this cat get better would be appreciated.

I hope the kitty is doing allright.

For future reference, you might want to avoid the use of neosporin. According to my doctor, a lot of people have a bad reaction to it.

Plus, a substance such as this smothers the skin. In some cases, it would be best if the skin could breathe. It's hard to say. If you had poison ivy or poison oak, something smothering it would be a good thing because air must be present for the poison to cause itching.

Never-the-less, I do hope kitty survived and I hope others will read this and stay away from toxic products such as flea collars. There are better ways to keep kitty (and other pets) safe from fleas.
