I have a crape myrtle planted in front of the house (so it gets the western sun after midday). It was doing fine - coming into bloom around end of June. This time, before the blooms started, it had a profusion of green leaves then I noticed the tree's leaves covered with an oily looking residue(?). It went on to flower, though not as much as before, and even after the rains, the leaves are turning yellow from the lower parts going up.
Help!

Where are you, when was the crape myrtle planted, and did you plant it (do you know the circumstances of how it was planted)?

Can you post a photo - either upload it to this thread or host it at photobucket, flickr, etc, and link back to it.

I am in Cedar Hill, TX (and thanks for prompt reply).
The tree was planted about 3 years ago as a baby, and it has grown well. This is the first time of issues. I'm wondering if there's some kind of "feed" I need to do to it. Thanks.
See a couple shots at photobucket.com/crapes
