I am looking for small size lava rock for mixing in containers, up to about 1/4" diameter. Does anyone know of locations in DFW that sell this?
Thanks,
Paul

I do not think you can get that small of a product specifically. The best thing I can think of would be to use a screen to filter the size you want in to the pots.

I have used lava rock in pots. I used various size pieces. You must be careful not to put too much of it in there. I could have used more soil and less rock in mine. When I went to transplant the potted plants into the ground, their roots were entangled in the rock. By "entangled" I mean the roots had grown into the rocks.

In addition, when using lava sand, it is possible to use too much in the potting soil mixture. It holds water so well; it can actually harm the plant in this situation.
