I sometimes have my own private tree tour. My favorite trees are oaks and trees with fall colors.
From Lake Worth area to Benbrook to Glen Rose are some of the coolest looking live oaks with big branches. One of my favorite is one in Lake Worth that overlooks the lake. That tree maybe the tallest live oak in DFW.It surprised my eyes. I am guessing it's 75-80 ft tall with a wingspan of 100 ft. And it shades the entire house.
Shumard oaks in Fort Worth are huge.
Post oaks are great in the country. In Benbrook to Fort Worth Westover Hills, are some of the largest bur oaks in Texas.
In fact, I finally found the Memorial Oak (Bur oak), of Benbrook in the Pecan Valley Park, one the largest bur oaks. Just right behind the tree was a group of wild turkeys.
Fall colors are also very nice this autumn.
I encourage you to just go out there and just look.

I found that 90% of the pictures from my weekend in the Hill Country is of trees. I love the spreading oak and cypress that are there. I get true, absolute joy when I see a big, beautiful tree. I'm glad to see I'm not alone!

Do you have any pictures you can share?

The campus of the University of Texas at Arlington is smack in the middle of the "Cast Iron Forest" (also called the "Cross Timbers") and the oaks love the limestone soil. They have some gorgeous post oaks and a lot of other varieties as well. Right there in the middle of town.
