Killdeers are one of the best-known birds in Texas. It is very adaptable and can be found in farmyards, fields, parking lots and even nesting on gravel rooftops.

These two photos show the Killdeer in a grassy field and on a moss-covered rock, maybe one of the more unusual locations for this largish shorebird.
