I am trying to get a Farmers Market in Irving. We are struggling and have gone from a twice a week format to a once a month format. That seems to be working because we have joined forces with a local church that has already been hosting a 2nd Saturday crafters market. We need more farmers. Backyard folks would be the best, since they are not harvesting a lot. We generally have 3 or 4 farmers. Since there are many farmers markets in the area, the call for farmers is very competitive and most farmers want to work weekly markets. Are there any backyard farmers out there that would be interested in having a booth? Next 2nd Saturday Farmers Market is August 13....then September 10. If so, please contact me at (972) 742-2296. I would love more organic produce! My volunteers do set up a booth to talk compost, recycling, organics and more. If anyone would like a booth other than produce (i.e., jams, jellies, nuts, jerky, salsa, crafts, organic product), please call me. Thanks... Fran Witte, City of Irving |
