I just found group of about 3-5 worms in my garden and I've never seen them before. Are they bad? and what should I do to take care of them.

You can edit your posts to make that smaller. I'd suggest make it 800 or 1000px wide and rename it so you're sure you're uploading the new photo, and then substitute it in your post. Those look like cutworms, the scourge of tender young plants in the garden. I was plagued by them for the first time last year. Take a look at this thread and see if they are the same: http://bit.ly/XBrQ0u The biggest thing for dealing with them is to use beneficial nematodes before you start your gardening for the season. And a topical application of BT if needed. After some clobbered plants I asked around and was told about cutworms. I was careful to look at the soil, put in my plants, then sink a plastic tub (sans the bottom) around each plant. That kept them from moving just under the surface up to my tender tomatoes and chard and lopping them off at ground level. |
