The orange TKO works great! you can even dilute it to the point of being able to mist it onto your carpets and drapes/blinds. Use a heavier concewntration around window and in closet(laundry) corners and vents. they hate that stuff! :!:

what is orange TKO? And thanks for the help with spiders. We have Hobo spiders in the house and I do not want to have to use anything other than an organic response. Have caught an alarming number on sticky traps. Does the orange TKO kill them?

If they are just wolf spiders, which commonly seem to come in the house, (the brownish striped looking ones that get big), I just trap them in a jar and put them back outside. They won't hurt anything and are beneficial in the garden.

The orange TKO can be purchased at home depot. look for it in the cleaning products section. Its about $13-14 for the bottle but well worth it!
it is organic orange oil and spiders, as well as lots of other bugs, HATE it!
I have used it on seedlings to kill fungus. misted my back yard with a spray bottle for temporary relief from biting bugs.
For Spiders I use a 20 oz spray bottle and use a capful of TKO with water filling it up. Spray it along baseboards, window sills and corners, blinds- anywhere you would likely find a spider crawling or making a web. Then with a strong concentration, about 3 TBSP to the same spray bottle filled with water, I hit every crack crevice doorway and window outside! so far so good and it smells mmmmmmmm so wonderful! :)

Does not spraying this orange oil around the inside of your house impact the paint or fabric. Is there no staining involved or any affect what so ever?

no staining if used in the correct amounts - or at least i have found.
most of my house is hard wood floors or white carpet. On carpets- i mist it(repels fleas!) and on draps/furniture the same if you need or want to use it there. it smells heavenly but not fake. it is rather potent though so do it when you are about to leave the house or with the doors open for a little while.
on the window sills- mine are white inside and out. no paint discoloration that i have noted. i try really hard to spray INTO the crevices of the windows, doors etc .. :)

Thank you for the info about orange oil..Just found something called Right Stuff orange oil cleaner. Could not find the TKO. Will mix this in your proportions and hopefully see way less spiders! I do not mind the beneficial ones and capture and take outside, but here in this area we have numerous poisonous varieties. Ugh.

ok, so after some longer term use of the TKO i have found that you must re-apply it about every two weeks or sooner. it works very well. funny thing i have found is that if you miss a spot, the spiders know it! they will go to that ONE spot.
another product that Kathe Kitchens turned me on to in one of these topics is BIOGANIC
it formulated for your yard and can be found at Lowe's in the garden center. I got some and this stuff is fantastic because it repels all kinds of annoying type insects.
I went back after the first try with the bottle it comes in and got a hose type attachable sprayer that worked better called dial a spray or something like it. the bottle it comes in is supposed to do the trick buy mine kept popping off the hose and spraying me!
you spray it anywhere you dont want insects BUT it is totally harmless to humans and animals because it is just organic herbal oils that somehow damage the nuerotransmitters of the critters and they cannot function/die.
i got one of those 'pest control' type sprayers for indoors too and put about 1/4 cup to about 5 gallons. its so strong and pungent but smells very minty and good. I usually spray it when i wont be home for a couple of hours indoors. Must be similar effect the orange oil has.
Again, it must be reapplied often but it is organic and WORKING!!! so for about $10.00 a bottle WOW its worth it!

charmvalerie-
Thanks for continuing to spread the word on Bioganic. It's a great product. I would like to add some additional information about how it works to ease anyone's mind about how toxic it might be to other creatures. Octopamine is a receptor site exclusive to insects that regulates body functions. Humans have cholinesterase receptor sites that regulate our body functions. That is why the plant oils found in bioganic will only harm insects and not humans, pets, birds, etc. The Bioganic plant oils interfere with these receptor sites disrupting the insects normal body functions (i.e. breathing, eating, etc.)causing their bodies to shut down and eventually die. This mode of action is unique to these plant oils. Also, no insect resistance has ever developed to these plant oils. Finally, all these plant oils are FDA approved as food additives.

Keep in mind that spiders are benefical! If you have too many spiders, you have too many bugs that feed them. Focus on the bugs and the spiders will decline.
