I'm searching for a source for organic hay. My horses are in Southlake.

Thanks,
Kathy

I posted details on the organic farming site this
morning. We will have organic hay in few weeks.

There was a guy at the Equine Times Expo in McKinney named Mark Chapain who grew it. I am not sure where his property was, but if you can find him through the grapevines, you may hit paydirt. He is very knowledgible regarding organics and his hay even won first place for the entire county - for nutritional values. If you can't find him, you may try getting in touch with Walt Davis up in OK. Hope this helps. If I find Mark's info, I'll pass it along.

I'm told Walt Davis sold out to a doctor from Dallas.

Not aware of that info about Walt - but I found out that Bluestem is Mark's name here on the forum. If you can track him down, you may have a source of hay not too far from you in Southlake.

Walt Davis sold his old place last year and moved to a smaller one in OK. I believe that's what you're talking about, pakin. He still maintains one with smaller acreage, also still in OK.

Robert Bard's place is up north between Gainesville & Sherman along the Red River. Near Whitesboro, if I'm not mistaken.

Bluestem's is raised using natural products and methods but not technically organic. I'd feed it to my animals any day. He is just north of Denton.

I called to several feed stores in the Southlake region and found none that offer organic hay. You might see if Brad Watson in east Texas sends his into town anywhere near. Good luck. We'll holler if we find some for you.
