If I grew continer tomatoes, I would use at least a 15-20 gallon container per plant. No special tips for fall tomatoes except that you need to give them some sun and heat relief until the weather starts cooling a little. Summer is a difficult time to keep tomatoes alive, especially if your garden area tends to have early blight problems. |

I have a planter that does well with tomatoes and even minds itself while I am away for awile. It has a reservoir in the bottom and a "showercap" over the soil surface. I use my organic amendments instead of their fertilizer. Of course these special contraptions add to the cost of producing your tomatoes, but a homegrown is priceless. http://www.earthbox.com |

1) What are the largest container variety tomatoes a person can grow? Most container varieties I've seen are so small. In this Earthbox, you can't plant a variety that is designed to grow in the ground, can you? (I think I read everything on their website...) 2)Also, how long into the fall do tomatoes produce? |

Is it too late to grow tomatoes for fall from stem cuttings? I won't be able to find the variety (Amish Paste) I'm growing in stores. I live in Mesquite. |
