I've heard both ways, leave them and I've heard to pinch them off.
In ya'lls experience what's best?

I'm revering to the little shoots the sprout from between the leaf and stem, that normally out grows the main stem.

Thanks.

I can't see a good reason for pinching anything off of the plant. Except ripe tomatoes, that is!

I pinch them off as well as the lowest branches. You don't want any branches touching the ground. Trust me, you won't miss them.

I keep my suckers pinched off, because I'm growing lots of stuff in a small area. I only give a tomato 1 square foot to grow. (per square foot gardening method) If I left the suckers, it would need a much bigger area.

My tomatoes are all over the ground by the end of the season. They form a huge hedge.

Mine too but any leaves laying on the ground will become lace.

This begs the question "what do you consider a "sucker" on a tomato plant?" Someone tried to describe to me (via email, not showing in person) how he trims his plants and it didn't make any sense. Are these branches that don't produce fruit?
