Has anyone tried the vinegar mix on aquatic vegetation? I have a canal that has been taken over by water hyacinth. Thanks.

I have not heard about water hyacinth since the 80s. Back then the only cure was to dredge it out every year.

I live in FL in have a 3/4 mile canal just full of it. I don't have the equipment to dredge it out and wouldn't want to know what it would cost to have someone else do it. I ordered some 10% vinegar that I'll give a shot. I will post the results.

If the canal is yours, they you're on the hook. If the canal is not yours, then call the city or county.

One really good thing about water hyacinth: it cleans up polluted water! :D

Vinegar might work but 10% hydrogen peroxide would be worth a try also.

Hadn't heard of using hydrogen peroxide. Is it just a spray to the foliage?
