Can you tell me what the name of this weed is and how to get rid of it? I have a new bermuda lawn, sodded this January. I've been mowing weekly at the lowest setting, but this weed just pops right back up and seems to be spreading.

Here's a picture:

And here's a close-up:

Thanks,

I had it in my lawn too. I pulled it all out by hand.

I don't remember the name.

If you don't want to pull it out you can try 10% vinegar with 1 tbs of real soap and 1 tbs of orange oil. That makes a non-selective herbicide.

Looks like dallis grass - very common around here. Best removal is to just dig it up. I've found the vnegar burns it but doesnt kill it permanently. Every time it rains in my yard - weeds will die because that is the best time to pull weeds up and get the roots.

Yep, looks like Dallis grass to me too. It's my cheif nemesis in the front yard. Nothing works on it except digging, IME.

Yep it looks just like dallis grass. I have more then I want in my yard as well. It seems to grow on air. It doesn't need water to grow. I can cut my lawn and two days later it has grown at least 6 inches with no rain. Maybe my burmuda will strangle it as it spreads. The only way I have found to get rid of it is pull it out. You must get the root as well. It sure is a tough weed.
