Post subject:  Soil ammending for a lawn...

I live in a new, up and coming neighborhood. My house was the first one built in about a 2 block radius. When our was built, it was built completely flat with the street in front of our house. When the house to the left was built, they planted the lawn at the same level as ours, so things are great, on that side. On the right side, however, it was the builders daughters house, and the builder, intentionally, built their house, at least, 2.5 feet higher than ours. For a few years after that, my house and lawn were completely flooded anytime even the smallest rain happened.

Because of that, I finally put some red sandly clay on top of our lawn and put some sod on top of that. Well, the grass does not like laying directly on top of the red dirt. So, I am going to redo the lawn one last time and want to get it right this time. My idea, this time, is to till up the red dirt, add some compost and whatever else would be good, till it all together, and once it is good and blended make it the base for a new sod layover.

By the way, my soil is gumbo. Please, anyone, especially Dirt Doctor and Compostal, what would be the very best mix for my soil, the very best so that the soil will be great before I even think about put the sod down on it?
