Another very popular weeding tool is the Weed Hound. See it at Wal-Mart, Target, Lowes, and Home Depot

Which one works best? I have a weed hound, but am not that impressed, it doesn't really get that much of the root. I was wondering if the weed popper would work better.

Does the weed popper have any problem with heavy clay soil? I've wondered whether those skinny tines will bend or break. Does it leave a large divit?

The tines on the Weed Popper are very thick. I looked at the "hound" and, like you, wasn't impressed...but I haven't actually tried it. My "Popper" works very well in getting the root in both clay and rocky soil.

I second kbrew. I've used my popper in clay soil for the last three years and have not bent a tine yet. It is sometimes a little hard to push into hard clay, but the weeds pop right out. After the first year, I started to water the clay a little, to soften it up, before inserting the popper. Don't use to much water or it will turn to mud then it acts like glue.
