Post subject:  sod disposal

I have a bit of a strange dilemma.

Our house is brand new, so we are getting to install all of our beds from scratch. That's great, but the builder sodded the entire yard with bermuda. The sodding job was done poorly and really only serves to keep what passes for soil underneath from washing away. That alone isn't my problem either, as we plan to replace it with prairie grass as soon as our budget allows. My problem is that we are putting in our new beds around the front of the house and have pulled up about 240 square feet of the sod. Does anyone in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area know what I can do to dispose of it? I'm not set up to compost it, and as we install more beds, there will just be more. I don't want to place it elsewhere in the yard, because I do eventually want to get rid of all of the bermuda, so laying it elsewhere just delays the issue. I've found a landfill that would take it, at considerable cost to us and I'd prefer to find a more responsible method of disposing of it.

I bet if you put up a sign to sell it (cheaper than retail)
you could get rid of it in a heartbeat. It might pay for your
other progects.

but it was really poor quality to begin with, I'm not sure anyone would want it...and I'm willing to just give it away for free to the first person willing to come get it! I don't mind paying to dispose of it, but I'd like to find some place that can compost it, or use it as fill dirt, or something, rather than just chucking it in the local landfill.

You don't need any setup to compost. Can you find a place to hide it and pile it up? It will compost by itself.
