In fact I have acquired a few recently- a sapling- and am experimenting with differing lights, etc trying them out. Seem to be fine so far.
In their native environments they can be pioneer trees that grow where others haven't yet. Checking, I find that Rowan grows from cold heights all the way down to the warmer areas in Italy, so there's a good chance they'll make it. They are of course not Ash trees (Fraxinus etc) but do bear similar traits. Hence if they like it here, they should be excellent trees.
I've already promised to keep Howard appraised of their progress, I'll let those on the board interested know as well.
Right now, as they were bare root stock, I've got them in pots to nutture a bit, then in the Fall I'm planting one to see how it does when it gets optimum planting.
