My lawn has presented puncture vine this year (with a vengance) and the kids are looking for a rapid solution to wearing shoes when outside this summer. I am aware that seeds can remain dormant for 4-5 years and that this is a tenacious pest. Help save the children!

Do you have a better description? And where do you live?

I am interested in this topic, too. I see "humble" posted in May. I hope he/she hasn't given up on us and will check the posting again to answer "dch's" question. Is the "vinegar/orange oil" mix a first round try?

Also called goat head, Mexican sandbur, or Texas sandbur. Do you happen to live in Kansas? They are really bad there. Is you soil sandy or has it been gravely disturbed recenty? all grassbur seeds can remain dormant in the soil for years untill the soil is disturbed. Take something you can roll over the yard and cover it with burlap and roll it to pickup as many grassburs as you can. Put down humate at 200 lbs. per acre and sray good with areated compost tea.
Using Corn Glutenmeal when needed before the seeds germinate and spraying the ones that are already growing with 20% vinager will help.
