If you like to do a little birding away from your backyard, the Dallas Trinity Trails offer some great opportunities. I just discovered them myself. So far, my favorite is Lemon Lake, a little south of Dallas. It is a popular spot with some species that are typically more coastal, such as Roseate Spoonbill and White Ibis.

Here are a few pictures from Lemon Lake. The description on how to get there is incorrect. It now has easy access.

To get there, go south on I 45 to Loop 12. Exit and go east a mile or so. You will see a sign for a service road, then a sign for a boat ramp. Take the boat ramp exit and go to the parking lot on the right. You will find a very nice, paved walk to the lake and along the side of the Lake. You can follow the trail for quite a long way to another lake. I may have the names mixed up, but the first lake is where I have seen most of the birds.
