We have a yard covered in weeds which needs dirt brought in to level it. So I need to kill the weeds before adding. So I need to know if I should

1. Kill weeds with vinegar
2. Add new soil
3. install plugs
4. Add corn gluten and molasses

Or some other order/did I miss steps.

Thanks for the help!

Well the only thing I would do different is to till in the new soil with the old, if it is away from trees. Or you might try to areate if tilling is too large of a task. An air spade can be used under the trees to areate the soil and mix in some organic material.

Thanks Steve. I keep reading that tilling is bad, then people say you should. I guess I'm a bit confused.

Thats the wonderful thing about forums. lots of opinions. I would only use a mechanical tiller in open areas and not close to any trees. I guess it really depends on the area you are working. I would use a tiller just for speed and convience.

Ok well I am gearing up to get this going. What tools are usually used to make sure the grade is correct? Thanks again!
