I will be moving soon and the ground is all sand. There is no grass (weeds only) and there are cutter ants and moles. I would like some kind of grass and shrubs and also to plant some trees. What should I do to make the soil grow something and how do I get rid of the pests? Thanks!

Start watering, mowing, and fertilizing with organic fertilizer. Some of the problems will go away with care. If you really want a show place lawn, you will have to do more work, but it will be nice and green with water and mowing. Planting Dutch white clover is an option for an easy turf.
