While it will be awhile before the first freeze in Texas, people are already asking when they should take down their hummingbird feeders.

Migration is more closely tied to the amount of daylight than it is to temperature. Healthy hummingbirds will migrate when the time is right for them, and can withstand below freezing weather.

A general rule is to leave your hummingbird feeders up 2 weeks past the time you see the last hummer at the feeder.
