I have removed a deck at the rear of my home. There is the crawl space entrance, the condenser and the water cutoff to be considered. I can raise the condenser and water shut-off 3 inches. The crawl space would be seriously compromised should I reaise a bed 6 to 8 inches.

I would like to plant perennials/herbs. Once I grade that area, I really can't raise the beds some 6 to 8 inches.

My question is: How do I handle this situation? What should I instruct the landscaper to do with respect to this issue? He doesn't seem to hear my concerns.

First of all, if it were me, I would find another landscaper. One who will listen to you. That is part of their job. When you get one who will listen, he can help you with your concerns.
