Can I add in small amounts of DE to my dogs food and how about also corn gluten meal and dried mollasses. They love the corn gluten and mollasses as I put it out on the yard.

Thanks

I would say yes, probably not, and probably yes. You can search DirtDoctor.com for the Dirt Doctor's recommendation on supplementing with food grade DE. The CGM primarily is a (high) protein source, and there wouldn't seem to be much reason to add it unless you need a protein ingredient in a homemade formula. On the other hand, the high amount of protein from too much CGM could be pretty rough on the dogs' systems. Any fungal or bacterial contamination also could produce undesirable results. I can't think of anything negative about adding a little molasses to a normal dog's food, depending somewhat on the sulfur content and the general purity of the particular product. To the dog, dry molasses will supply sugar, minerals, and fiber primarily (liquid molasses would substitute moisture for the fiber), so I wouldn't overdo it on healthy dogs, and one obviously wouldn't give it to diabetics. It would supply added energy for working situations. It sometimes can enhance palatability, so it might help stimulate appetite if the dogs are off food briefly. For others reading this, these molasses comments do not apply to the sweet livestock feed products containing urea. I hope this helps.

Why not just feed the dogs Muenster dog food? You will get the right amount of DE & the food is preserved (all of it, not just part of it) with natural products!
