Planted a white dogwood last fall. At that time, the tree was shaded by large hackberry trees. However, since then, the hackberry trees have been cut down. Now, the dogwood is in full sun and leaves are turning brown on edges and curling up. The tree is about 4.5 feet tall. Is this tree going to survive in the full sun? Should I try transplanting it now? Is there something else I can do to save it?

If it's only been in the ground a growing season it should still be transplantable (though I'd wait till Fall) and yes I'd relocate it somewhere shady. Dogwoods like to be understory trees around here.

Thank you for the advice on the dogwood. I have picked out another spot in the yard that is currently shaded by more hackberries, although, these trees will probably die out or succumb to the mistletoe. Don't have a lot of options in my yard. Probably need to plant something fast growing to provide some shelter for the dogwood for when the hackberries are no longer. We have a long, hot summer ahead of us. Is there anything I can do to help this dogwood survive until I can transplant it in the fall?
