Hello!
I just joined the group and I and very excited at all of the great info and friendly atmosphere! I know I can find help for my problem here :!:

I have small black pits on the leaves of my mums and salvias. The spots are the size of a pinhead or a little bigger and are perfectly round. The spots are pitted into the leaves, and do not rub off or smear. It seems to be getting worse and I want it to stop!

Can you please tell me what it is and how to treat it?

Thanks so much!

It's the 4-line plant bugs. They LOVE salvias and other herbs. I'm going to post a picture of them after I get home tonight. Look at the other threads about Weird Red bugs for a description. The bugs will go away when it gets a bit warmer.

Thanks for the help!

I looked and the spots are actually brown. I did see some bugs that fit the description on my plants. The strange thing is, my herbs are in great shape, and it’s the mums and the salvia gregii that are being "attacked." And, I have lots of herbs!

I have lots of other bugs on my plants, including an iridescent little beetle. Is this a friend or foe?

Thanks again,
HC

HCantril,
Tried looking at your web site, but it does not appear to be up and working yet.

Go figure. Last year they attacked about everything in my garden, this year it's the golden oregano and the Mexican mint marigold got the worst of it. Most of my salvias were untouched.

I tried the link and you are right, it does not work.

I typed it in, and it will send you to the site.

I will try to redo my profile and reset the link.

Thanks for checking it out and let me know if you make it to a dance!

Helen
