What does this look like to y'all? We moved in 2 1/2 yrs ago and the yard was like a golf course. The house is almost 20yrs old and, as far as I know, has followed a strict chemical regimen. Upon moving in I ceased using all toxins and moved to organic.

As seen in the 3rd pic, there are parts of the lawn that are thick and lush. However, in the first 2 pics, there are spots where nothing grows, not even weeds! This year's treatment includes ben. nematodes, bioform dry, cornmeal, Medina soil activator, and a light app. of Sul-po-mag.

BTW, I live in Hewitt, just south of Waco. No signs of pest or disease. Anybody got any ideas?

Thanks.
Dave

Dave - my neighbor had the same problem however I hadn't convinced him to go "organic", though I have been trying. I did convince him to put on a thin layer of compost and water it in good. He did, and within 2 weeks the healthy grass around the spot had filled the bare spots in.

I have a couple spots that are really hard to get growing well. The best I've been able to do in the past three years was when I put corn gluten meal on one spot as a test. It was very dense in there for a year and then back to "normal." I also made my own dead zone by mistake several years ago. I was building a tree house for my daughter using treated lumber. Where I set up my sawhorse is one of the places where the grass refuses to grow.

You have thrown the organic arsenal at it. You up for a soil test? I recommend the Texas Plant and Soil lab.

Dchall,

I think I should get a soil test. I would be "neat," if nothing else, to know that much about my soil.

There is an organic nursery outside of Waco that I use, and a gentleman there thinks there is something buried in my yard. Perhaps a paint can or a piece of treated lumber from when the house was built. I may go diggin'!

Since my original post bermuda has started creeping in the bare spot. Very slowly mind you, but it is trying to reestablish.

Thanks for the input.

Dave
