I'd like to announce that 5 star green home is under construction east of Dallas in Rains County. The home will be finished in mid March and is slated to receive the top rating from the city of Austin Green Building program: http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/greenbuilder/

The Austin Green Building program has rated over 4,300 homes and only 15 to date have achieved 5 stars. This demonstration/model home will likely be the 16th.

The home is located in the Woodson Place--a conservation neighborhood: www.WoodsonPlace.com. A map is available on the website.

The home will be available for tours and demonstrations 5-6 times per year and by appointment. Tours will be lead by the architect, general contractor, and landscape architect.

A small library and information center will feature information and products relating to green building. Seminars on green building and wildscaping will be offered regularly.

For more information: Chris@Woodson Place.com or call 903/581-0800

Any and all questions are welcome. I look forward to some great discussions and info exchange!

Thank you very much for posting this. Green building is such an important and extremely sensible way to go. It costs so much less in the long run.

Just yesterday, I visited a green school in McKinney, TX (Malverne Elementary). The concepts involved with the architecture are brilliant and it saves a lot of money on maintenance, electricity, water, and more!
The students and teachers truly benefit from the natural sunlight and the other design aspects.
