I would appreciate some help with solving a common problem, fighting fire ants. Our home has been invaded by fire ants. We live in a fairly new home in a recently developed area. We have had to repeatedly clean out fire ant nests from boxes or anything left sitting still in our closets. We've had them in our dressers and find we have to continually empty and move the dressers to keep them ant free. Our 3 year old put on a pair of underpants recently after which he started screaming. The shorts were covered in fire ants and we ended up at the emergancy room because of the swelling. We have to shake off clothing before putting then on. We dare not leave any food out, even dog food. The carpet has fire ants. The extention office said they were red fire ants. We have tried several of the suggested treatments outside our house, but we haven't gotten any relief inside. Our neighbors use some sort of powdery poison regularly, perhaps chasing the ants over here. We are to the point that we are ready to call in Terminex. These things are making me miss cold Minnesota winters! Does anyone have any suggestions for this type of situation?

Sprinkle powdered boric acid under and behind all your furniture and in the carpet. That should take care of them immediately. If it does not, please write back.
