I realize that Red Tips are not the best of the plants to plant. But I had a area between a neighbors crappy yard and mine that I am trying to block out. Anyhow the question is I was told to plant them about three feet apart. What I would like to know is there some kind of a companion plant that I can plant in front of them that will not make it so bare till they get larger get larger.

If there is a fair amount of sun buy some Allysum (sp?) seeds. Literally throw them on the bare ground and water in. You will have a short flowering plant until the fall freeze.

Otherwise just mulch the bare soil with hardwood mulches.
