I have a Chinese Pistachio tree in the backyard, that's grown to about 20 feet. About a month or so ago, where the trunk splits and the limbs go out, I saw this stuff, that looked like nougat or divinity (sorry for the food reference, that's the only thing I could think of to compare it to). It didn't look like spider webbing. Then, two weeks ago, the trunk split about a third of the way down! The leaves have turned and are falling normally, and the tree growth is well balanced and has always been healthy.

What's happened? What can I do, if anything?
