Hello, new member question....

I saw that Garrett suggested soaking nursery transplants in compost tea or GJ before planting, but I didn't see anything about what everyone does when planting bulbs.

Does anyone do anything special when planting bulbs and tubers?

P.S. My wife and I have been eating organic for some time. Now that we have moved back to our house in TX, I am ready to start gardening again. This site has been a great help in getting started in organic gardening. Thanks to everyone for such great info.

After years of experimenting and asking for advice, everything I plant gets two things at the time of planting:
1) a handful of horticultural cornmeal mixed into the soil around the base of the plant or around the seeds
2)watering in with a seaweed & water solution

Compost & fertilizer go on two times a year.

Good luck!
Kathe

I agree with Kathe regarding the Seaweed solution. It is a great root stimulator also. Be careful with the cornmeal around small seeds. Some folks have reported germination problems ?? Kathe has stated that she has years of experience so following her advice might be the way to go.
