 Post subject: Apple Tree

I have an apple tree in my back yard been there since we moved in 15 years ago. The last few years branches have been dying on me. Have used the sick tree treatment and tree trunk goop. Now half of it is gone. the other half doesn't look good but still has apples. Should I go ahead and cut all the dead out? It looks like mushrooms growing at the base of the tree, also.

Yes, cut out dead wood for sure. Also check the planting depth and see if hte original planter did it too deeply. Bear in mind that it's more than likely a grafted tree, so there's probably a discernable line where the root stock meets the upper tree, make sure the root flare of the root stock is visible above ground.
